My knitting wish list gets longer every day – there are so many things I want to knit and simply too few hours in the day. I’ve already got more projects in progress than I’m willing to admit but any resolve not to start anything else new is fading rapidly thanks to the arrival of the latest catalogues from Drops Design. I spent last night browsing through the four new pattern catalogues and here are my favourites.
City Stroll (pattern number 167:16) is a V-necked cardigan with pockets knitted in 2 shades of Drops Delight – 05 and 06. I plan to knit the medium size which requires 3 balls of each shade. Delight is currently reduced by 25% as part of the Drops Sockalicious promotion so the cardigan will cost only £9.60 to make (£12.60 from 1 April).
Next on my wish list is At Sundown (pattern number 168-20) – a jacket with zig-zag stripes and round yoke, knitted in Drops Fabel. The S/M size requires 3 balls each of 3 shades: 52, 904 and 910 so the jacket will cost £14.40 before the 31 March (same promotion as Delight) and £18.90 from 1 April. The pattern looks a bit more complicated than City Stroll and the first instruction – cast on 333 stitches – is a tad daunting. However, it reminds me of Missoni so should be worth the effort.
My third choice is another cardigan but our British summers mean that you can never have enough cardigans!! The Jolly May cardigan has a small cabled edge, lace pattern and raglan sleeves and is knitted in Drops Baby Merino 4ply and will be equally good with jeans or a summer dress. The medium size takes 8 x 50g balls so will cost £22.40 to knit.
My final choice is for a little lace shrug which would be perfect for a summer party. From Grace (pattern number 167-25) takes just 100g of Drops Lace so will cost £8.10 to make.
The pattern books are in the shop and cost £1 each or you can find all the individual patterns online for free on the Drops website
