The Musselburgh Hat, designed by Ysolda Teague is a double-layered beanie with 4-point crown shaping.
For this kit we have teamed the pattern with self-striping yarn with cashmere for the ulimate cosy and fully-reversible hat.
The kit includes:
100g Rico Superba Cashmeri sock yarn (65% merino wool, 25% polyamide, 10% cashmere)
Musselburgh Hat pattern, designed by Ysolda Teague (purchased through the Ravelry In-Store pattern scheme)
You will also need (not included) 2.75mm needles for knitting small circumferences in the round – we used double-pointed needles for shaping and a 40cm circular for the main body of the hat but you could also use an 80cm needle and the magic loop technique.
The Musselburgh Hat, designed by Ysolda Teague is a double-layered hat with 4-point crown shaping. This versatile hat can be worn as a beanie with rolled brim or as a slouch hat. The multi-gauge pattern includes 9 gauges, for yarn weights between light fingering and DK, and 6 sizes.
In what is essentially a three step project you’ll start with a centre-out cast-on and increase for the first crown; the next part is a beautifully meditative knit of stocking stitch in the round; finally, you will finish off the hat by mirroring the initial shaping with decreases. The hat is fully reversible, so using self-striping yarn can turn it into two completely different hats in one.
For this kit we have teamed the pattern (purchased through the Ravelry In-Store pattern scheme) with the beautifully soft Cashmeri sock yarn from Rico Design: a luxurious blend of merino wool, polyamide and cashmere. The kit includes 100g of yarn and the pattern.
You will also need double-pointed and/or circular needles in your chosen size. We used 2.75mm here but 2.50mm or 3.00mm would also work well.
If you would prefer the pattern on its own you can purchase it on Ravelry
